Initiated by the Vienna Tourist Board, the design studio EOOS partnered with composer, musician, and artist Darius Edlinger to create the immersive sound installation ‘Carpet Couches‘, inspired by Sigmund Freud.

The installation features meticulously implemented noise and soundscapes that invite visitors to experience a day in the life of Sigmund Freud. A stroll in the Belvedere Park becomes an intimate experience surrounded by the sounds of footsteps on gravel seemingly encircling the visitors, and the approaching fountain's water droplets feel almost tangible. A classic Viennese tram travels through the room, subtly making the floor vibrate. The typing on a typewriter and note-taking are perceptible from different directions, reviving the sensation of being in Freud's practice. Some scenes intentionally feel dreamlike, with impressive transitions, as the sounds slowly fade away and echo, artfully blending the layers of reality and dreamworld.
